Meet Rowan
When you meet our son Rowan, the first thing you notice is his energetic personality – twinkling eyes behind his little glasses and a smile that melts your heart. At three years old, Rowan lives with SLC13A5 epilepsy, relies on his wheelchair to get around, and needs a G-tube for nutrition.
Between specialist appointments and the hands-on care Rowan needs at home, life is demanding in ways that leave little room to rest and recharge. When we found The Darling Home for Kids, we found a safe haven where Rowan receives exceptional care and we found the respite our family desperately needed.
At the Home, Rowan gets to simply be a happy kid. He’s played mini golf with friends, taken peaceful trail strolls, and danced to guitar music at the Holiday party. Beyond expert medical care, he experiences the enriching moments that make childhood special.
Respite stays at the Home extend far beyond Rowan’s medical needs – it supports our entire family. The Home connects us to a network of families who truly understand our journey. This community of parents who “get it” has been invaluable during some challenging moments.
This Giving Tuesday, support The Darling Home for Kids. Your generosity ensures families like ours never have to face our toughest days alone, and that we have the strength to keep being the best caregivers we can be. Without the support of generous donors, The Darling Home for Kids would not be able to provide the specialized care that families like ours desperately need.

Double Your Impact Today
Like Rowan’s family, there are so many others seeking respite for their children with medical complexities. Your donation will give families the help they need. Each dollar you donate will be matched, providing support for even more families.
In celebration of Giving Tuesday, our Guardians Michele Darling and her family Michael, Daniel and Ryan Eagen, will match every donation made to the The Darling Home for Kids from November 18 through Giving Tuesday, December 2, up to $50,000.
Since becoming the Home’s Guardian in 2007, Michele and her husband Michael have been instrumental in the organization’s growth and success. Michele’s leadership in the Phase II Campaign in 2008 doubled the Home’s size, and she played a major role in The Embrace Campaign which supports the current Phase 3 Expansion.
“As our Home expands to serve even more families, we’re inviting our community to join us during this important time of growth. By matching every donation made through Giving Tuesday, we hope to inspire others to give and to show these remarkable children and their families that they are not alone. Together, we can ensure no child is too complex to receive the love, care, and support they deserve.“ – Michele Darling.
