Administrative Volunteer
Volunteers help with various office duties throughout the week, including answering phones, greeting guests, assembling mailings and other administrative tasks.
Board Member for The Cedarbrook Society
The Board of Directors of The Cedarbrook Society provides strategic direction and governance that support the operations of the Home. The Board consists of up to 12 members with diverse professional backgrounds and expertise.
Complimentary Therapies Volunteer
The Darling Home for Kids strives to enhance the quality of life for the children and their families during their stay. Volunteers with current certifications implement complimentary therapies including music therapy, therapeutic touch and Reiki.
Kitchen Volunteer
A kitchen is often the heart of a home and our volunteers play an important role in maintaining that feeling for children and families. Kitchen volunteers help us prepare nutritious meals in our fully equipped kitchen.
Companionship Volunteer
Working alongside the professional Care Team, our Companionship Volunteers provide activity engagement and connection to our respite and residential children during their visits with us. Companionship Volunteers are individuals 20 years of age and above.
Fundraising & Development Volunteer
Fundraising & Development volunteers work alongside our development team and assist us in raising funds to support our programs, writing proposals and requests for support and making thank you calls.
Gardening Volunteer
Volunteers with a green thumb tend to our gardens to maintain the beauty of our outdoor space, including weeding, planting, light yard work, clearing paths and pruning.
Housekeeping Volunteer
Our housekeeping volunteers perform a variety of light housekeeping duties to help maintain our clean and safe Home. Duties include disinfecting toys, wiping out kitchen cupboards, dusting, cleaning down surfaces, and organizing.
Maintenance Volunteer
Working alongside our Maintenance Caretaker, maintenance volunteers help us to keep our state of the art Home in safe, working condition. Maintenance volunteers help with paint touch ups, furniture repairs, lightbulb changes, and fixing other minor repairs.
Professional Services Volunteer
Professional Services Volunteers donate their services to help our children and families. These services include counsellors supporting families and siblings through the grieving process, teachers providing educational opportunties, and fundraising consultants helping us raise funds.
Public Relations/Public Awareness Volunteer
These volunteers help with various marketing duties, including writing press releases and newsletters, as well as attending and planning fairs, open houses and special events.
Special Events Committee Member
Volunteers are essential to the success of our signature fundraising events. These volunteers participate in the planning and implementation of our Wheels, Golf and Gala events.
Special Events Volunteer
Special events would not be possible without our dedicated ‘day of’ volunteers. Special Events Volunteers show up on the day of an event to assist with set-up, clean up and all that is in between.
