Why We’re Growing
The need for our care is growing, with demand for our services surging by 35.7%. To meet this rising need, our expansion will:
- Add 10,000 square feet of expanded space
- Increase our capacity from 12 to 16 beds
- Add more family-friendly spaces for connection and comfort
- Expand our medication room to support complex medical care
- Add multifunctional spaces for meetings, counselling, and admissions
- Enhanced therapy and play areas including a 4-seasons room

We partnered with SKYGRiD to host a special Trades Event, celebrating the progress on our Phase 3 Expansion. The afternoon was filled with heartfelt conversations and a shared vision of building more spaces where children with medical complexities can thrive and families can find respite.

Breaking New Ground for Brighter Tomorrows
In May 2023, we put shovels in the ground to mark the official groundbreaking of our Phase 3 Expansion at The Darling Home for Kids. This milestone symbolizes our continued dedication to supporting more children with medical complexities in Ontario. The 10,000-square-foot expansion is made possible by the generosity of our donors, especially Orlando Corporation, and the dedication of our architects, construction partners, and Board of Directors. Together, we’re bringing our vision for a more inclusive and supportive Home one step closer to reality.
