To: All the staff & volunteers of Darling Home for Kids
I want to take the time to share my thoughts about my brother and how blessed he was to have you guys in the last chapter of his life.
Marky lived his life with pure joy and love. He always had a smile on his face or would laugh at the right moment. He communicated not with words but through love that poured out from his eyes. The last year and a half of Marky’s life was a struggle…maybe even longer than that. When we were trying to place Marky somewhere we wanted it to be his last stop, a place so beautiful and warm with people who truly card for special needs children and not a cold heartless environment. There were talks about Marky going into an old folks home and I couldn’t stand the thought of my younger brother going there…I’m older than him… I’m not even there yet! I gave this upsetting news to God. I knew that there was something much more for this little guy. When I heard he was able to stay at Darling my heart was filled with so much happiness because I knew this was his last Home. It made sense. It was perfect, just for him. A beautiful home, filled with AMAZING people for Marky to know he is still loved. My next hope was for Marky to pass away peacefully with his family in the room with him. I couldn’t deal with the thought of him leaving this earth without the love of his family right next to him. Again, I gave this to God. And sure enough, Marky passed away in the most beautiful way…surrounded by LOVE. It was more than I could ask for.
During the last 48 hours of Marky’s life, the staff at Darling were AMAZING!!! You gave us the space we needed but yet knocked on our door to say their goodbyes to Marky. Even those who weren’t there, I thought about you guys and how much he touched your lives as much as you touched his! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you have shown to my family and Marky.
