The
Family Charitable Foundation Pledges $100,000 to Support Our Volunteer Program!
Our Helping Hands Volunteer Program, established in 2007, provides a positive experience for volunteers, promotes volunteerism within the community and provides support to children and families in need. In December 2011, Rosanne Longo, Chair of The Longo’s Family Charitable Foundation confirmed a $100,000 pledge to support our Volunteer Program at the Home.
As a foundation supporting children’s and women’s charities that focus on health and family, The Longo’s Family Charitable Foundation is proud to partner with The Darling Home for Kids and provide support to this valuable program. “Our visit to The Darling Home for Kids showed us first-hand the quality of care and unique services offered to children and their families” said Rosanne Longo after her tour of the Home. “Our hats go off to the many selfless volunteers for sharing their time and talents, and engaging the Home’s clients when they need it most.”
In November, Longo’s celebrated the grand opening of their newest store, located in Milton. We truly appreciate Longo’s efforts to give back to the local community and we know that it is thanks to their donation of $25,000 a year for the next four years, that we are able to ensure the sustainability of this vital program.
The Longo’s Family Charitable Foundation is joining an elite group of Founding Patron donors to our Home and in recognition of their incredible generosity, we will be naming our kitchen at The Darling Home for Kids in their honour.
We thank Rosanne Longo and her family for their wonderful donation to help provide essential volunteer support to our organization including the gift of a “Helping Hand” for our children and families.

Your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give a child.
The Darling Home for Kids could not be possible without the dedicated and talented volunteers that come out throughout the year to help with the various areas of the Operations of the Home.
As a volunteer you will have an opportunity to meet new people, expand your skills and have a lot of fun. Volunteers offer a kind of support that often cannot be measured ... a friendly ear, a chance for a break, being a friend, new adventures and experiences.
The Darling Home for Kids recruits, screens and trains qualified and caring volunteers from the community. Our volunteers are integral members of our team and work collaboratively with staff. Volunteers augment, but do not replace, services provided by staff. They share their talents and abilities to enhance the quality and quantity of services provided to our clients. Volunteers work directly with the staff to help provide the best programs possible for our clients and their families. We value the contribution of each individual as well as the diversity of skills, interests and commitments that each brings to the many opportunities offered each year. Whether you volunteer a few hours a week, a day or an evening each month, your contribution will be of great value to a child or parent.
Volunteers can work directly with children and families, lend their expertise on boards or committees, assist with fund raising, share their passion for cooking and help to provide nutritious meals for the children and families or provide support behind the scenes with the administration team. All our volunteer roles play an important part in the success of the agency and the positive outcomes with clients.
Looking forward to seeing you at The Darling Home for Kids!
