At The Darling Home for Kids we pride ourselves on including the child's family in every aspect of their respite care.  Special events would not be the same unless mom, dad, brother, sister and even pets can share it with us.  We have several family events throughout the year to which we encourage all of our families, past and present, to attend.

Annual Family BBQ
Each year as the weather begins to warm, The Darling Home for Kids begins to plan our Annual Family BBQ.  Good food and great fun are the order of the day as families join us at The Darling Home for Kids for a BBQ.

Help-Portrait Day
Help-Portrait finds inspiration in the families that come to The Darling Home for Kids each year.  When caring for a child who is medically fragile and/or technology dependant, smaller traditions like family portraits can be over looked.  Help-Portrait is here to help our families ensure their family memories live on year after year.

Santa Claus Parade
For the last four years The Darling Home for Kids has invited our families to board the DHK Express as we participate in the Milton Santa Claus Parade.  Many of our kids reach new levels of delight as they sail pass the roaring crowd, tossing candy canes and singing carols. While Santa may be the highlight of the day, our kids certainly get to feel their own star power!

Siblings' Program
The Darling Home for Kids provides support to the brothers and sisters of the chronically ill children we service. The Home holds quarterly Siblings Days in March, June, October and December, which consist of recreation and discussion-based activities with the aim of boosting self-esteem, enabling communication of feelings and concerns, and helping to foster a better understanding of their sibling’s disability.

For more information on any of the events mentioned above, please contact Robyn Edwards, Recreation Therapist and Volunteer Coordinator at 905-878-7673 ext 5.
