The Cedarbrook Society is a non profit children's charitable organization with a founding mission to optimize the care and quality of the lives of children with complex medical care needs through the development of a centre based community hospice program. The Darling Home for Kids is owned and operated by The Cedarbrook Society.

Anita Boyce - Chair

Anita Boyce is a chartered accountant with a distinguished international career in public accounting, financial management, and university and corporate learning in both a professional and volunteer capacity. She was nominated for the Halton Woman of the Year Award in 2008 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the community, spanning 25 years. She is actively involved in several community organizations in the Halton and Peel Regions.

Karen Chow - Vice Chair

As Vice-President of The GlaxoSmithKline Foundation, Karen manages community investments, philanthropic initiatives and stakeholder relations for GlaxoSmithKline Inc. In addition to her work with The Darling Home for Kids, Karen also contributes to policy development for improving hospice palliative care as a member of the Quality End-of-Life Care Coalition of Canada and also the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance.

Brian Baker - Treasurer

Brian Baker joined the Board of The Darling Home for Kids in June 2007. Brian brings a wealth of financial and operational expertise, with over 25 years of experience in both private and public companies. He is presently the Chief Financial Officer for BioQuest Innovations Inc. as well as for several emerging life sciences start-up companies that are managed by BioQuest. Brian obtained his Chartered Accountant designation with Ernst & Young in Montreal upon graduation from Concordia University.

David Bowker

In the mid 1990s, David, through his prior association as a Board Member of Oaklands Regional Centre, a Provincial residential facility for chronically ill children, recognized the need for a respite/ palliative home for these families and children. David has been with The Cedarbrook Society since inception in 1995 and was the Chairperson for over 10 years. David is a lawyer by training and is Executive Vice President of KG Packaging among other business interests.

Connie Clerici

Connie Clerici is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Health Science (N) who has founded a group of quality focused health care companies called Closing the Gap Health Care Group. Connie has received numerous awards from her work, including Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs in Canada, Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies and Regional Finalist in Canada’s 50 best managed companies. She has been an active board member/chair on numerous community and provincial boards.

Michele Darling - Guardian

After a long career as a senior banking executive, Michele Darling established The Halo Foundation to provide support to children and families in need. She sits on the board of several companies and numerous community organizations, and is a well-known philanthropist living in the Peel region with her husband Michael Eagen.

Dr. Sheelagh Kemp

Dr. Sheelagh Kemp has been a Staff Anaesthesiologist at the Hospital for Sick Children and a faculty member of the University of Toronto since 1991. She is currently Director of Satellite Anaesthesia and Sedation, and manages acute and palliative pain. Dr. Kemp is also the Medical Director of the No Boundaries Mission, based out of Sick Kids, which performs surgical and dental charitable work in third-world countries. She lives in Halton Hills, down the road from the Home, with her family and pets. She has never met a garage sale or silent auction that she did not like.

Lana Palmer

Lana Palmer recently joined the Board of Directors in January 2010 and brings with her over 25 years of healthcare operational management and quality improvement experience in the hospital acute care sector. She is a member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives and imparts extensive knowledge in strategic planning; project management, and governance models across the health system continuum. Lana is currently the Executive Director for the Upper Grand Family Health Team. She is married with five children and loves to travel with her family.

Brian Morgan

Brian Morgan joined the Board of Directors in June 2007 and brings with him over 10 years of Human Resources Management experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Brian's focus is to provide guidance to the Board on human resources related topics such as employee relations, compensation and benefits, as well as recruitment and selection. Brian is currently the Director of Human Resources for a clinical reseach company, Kendle Early Phase (Toronto), formerly known as DecisionLine Clinical Research.

Maide Yazar

Maide Yazar has been a member ofthe Board of The Darling Home For Kids since 1999. Maide works in the field of healthcare information technology. She is the Chief Strategist for Healthtech Inc. - an information technology consulting firm. With over 25 years of experience in healthcare both as a senior administrator and as a consultant, Maide has significant understanding of the business of healthcare, and strategy and information management across the contuinuum of care.
